Lincoln School Hosts Palatine's Arbor Day Ceremony

Representatives from the Village of Palatine and the Palatine Park District gathered at Lincoln School on Friday, April 27, for Palatine’s official Arbor Day celebration.

Representatives from the Village of Palatine and the Palatine Park District gathered at Lincoln School on Friday, April 27, for Palatine’s official Arbor Day celebration.

To commemorate the holiday, the Village planted five trees—two swamp white oaks and three frontier elms—on the south side of the school along Farmgate Road. Additionally, Lincoln’s third-grade students performed two musical numbers and recited a number of poems related to Arbor Day, and Palatine Mayor Jim Schwantz outlined the steps the Village had taken for Palatine to remain a member of the Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree City USA program.

The celebration concluded with members of the Village’s Beautification Commission passing out snacks, Arbor Day coloring books, and saplings that Lincoln students could plant on their own.
