District 15 Board names new head of personnel, human services

The District 15 Board of Education voted to appoint Darlene von Behren to be the District’s new assistant superintendent for personnel and human services during its May 9 meeting.

Ms. von Behren currently serves as assistant superintendent for administration and personnel with Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202. She has held that position since July 2009. In all, Ms. von Behren brings to District 15 a total of 22 years of experience in leadership roles within school district human resources departments in Illinois, Pennsylvania, and British Columbia, Canada.

Ms. von Behren holds a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Alberta, and a master’s degree in public administration from Brigham Young University. She has also earned her superintendent certification from Western Illinois University, where she is currently a doctoral candidate in educational leadership.

“We are pleased to have attracted someone with such impressive credentials and extensive experience to this important position,” said Superintendent Scott Thompson.

Ms. von Behren will officially begin her new role with District 15 on July 1.
