Worlds of Wonder: Kids and Books

Launching the Worlds of Wonder blog and talking about what's ahead.

Childhood is a time of wonder and discovery, and books transport us to places we could never imagine. So, it's no surprise that books and kids go together like peanut butter and jelly.

Every child is not an avid reader, but I believe every child is a story lover. Bringing the two together is something that every children's author believes is part of their job description. As writer, I believe stories have the power to transform children's lives. Think of your favorite book, and there's a good chance that it's a children's book - these books enter young minds when they are wide open and ready to learn and end up being the most well-loved of stories.

Worlds of Wonder will talk about books and kids and all the ways the two can intersect:

  • book recommendations for kids and teens
  • a writer's view on crafting books for kids and teens

  • ebooks, iphones, and all the new media ways that stories are told
  • encouraging young writers
  • local Palatine events that promote literacy

Warning: On Worlds of Wonder there may be occasional references to Star Wars, and detours into science and technology, because my inner geek is not easily suppressed.

This post is just to kick off the blog. The good stuff will come in the form of a post every Friday! Unless the computers gain sentience and start writing the blogs themselves, in which case the posts may be more frequent.
