Library Summer Reading Program...Now Online!

Sign up online for the Palatine Public Library Summer Reading Program!

My boys are frequent flyers in the Palatine Public Library Summer Reading Program and proudly sport their Summer Reading Program t-shirts from year's past. But this year there is something new - online registration!

It's easy to register online and keep track of your pages, but new this year is the requirement that each participant have their own library card (and online account). To recieve your prizes, you will still need to visit the library, and the prizes are awesome. Reaching your 50 percent milestone will net you coupons to local eateries like Photos, Jason's Deli, and Spunky Dunkers. And if you complete your reading goal, you'll get their cool t-shirt.

(I think this is one of the best looking ones yet!)

Studies show that kids who keep reading over the summer have less "summer slump" and catch-up to do when they return to school in the fall. Plus summer is the perfect time for adults to whittle down that towering To-Be-Read pile that threatens to topple over and injure the cat each time they sniff near it. Not that that ever happened at my house.

Between online registration and , you hardly have to step foot into the library to participate. Program runs June 1st - July 31st, but prizes can be claimed whenever you reach your goal.

Happy Summer Reading!

p.s. a copy of my novel, Life, Liberty, and Pursuit, can be found at the Palatine Public Library in the teen section, in case you're looking for a light beach read.
