Summer Fun with Homemade Ice Cream

Summer and ice cream just go together like salt and pepper, milk and cookies, cheese and crackers. You can survive without one or the other but then life just wouldn't taste as good.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for homemade ice cream. Summer and ice cream just go together like salt and pepper, milk and cookies, cheese and crackers. You can survive without one or the other but then life just wouldn’t taste as good.

Make today extra special and fun for your kids or grand kids, by whipping up some homemade ice cream together. Better yet, once your ice cream is ready, have an ice cream party with a sundae bar.

If you don’t have an ice cream maker, don’t despair. There are quite few recipes online for ice cream you can make in a Ziploc bag with kids. Here’s the first one that caught my eye from Kaboose.com. It gives you the recipe and step by step instructions for how to make homemade ice cream in a bag or a can. Whichever method you choose, it’s bound to be fun and delicious.

Ice Cream Sundae Bar

Ok, you’ve got your ice cream, homemade or one of your favorite store varieties.  Now, read this post for some creative ideas to put together an ice cream sundae bar that puts ice cream parlors to shame.

Ice Cream Party

I’m a firm believer in making it a party, inviting others to share in our family fun. So, don’t keep all of the fun to yourself. Invite another neighbor family over to participate and ask them to bring their favorite toppings. Heck, invite the whole neighborhood. To make your party extra cool, check out these easy and super cute Banana Split Bites. You can make your own Ice Cream Cone Pinata, as well.

What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
