Palatine Man Wins 4th Consecutive Schaumburg Traithalon

Dean Hewson of Palatine came out on top for the fourth consecutive year at the Schaumburg Park District's annual Splash, Pedal, Dash Triathlon.

The annual triathlon was held on July 7 at the Meineke Recreation Center in Schaumburg, along with a Dash, Pedal, Dash Duathlon.

The triathlon included a 400-meter swim, 12.8-mile bike ride and 5K run, while the duathlon consisted of a 12.8-mile bike ride in between two 5K runs. 

Hewson, 43, finished in first place with a time of 59:09 and also was the triathlon winner in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

Tim Glinski of Arlington Heights came in third place just one minute and 37 seconds behind Hewson; the two men were among the 342 people who competed in the triathlon. 

The duathlon winner was Daniel Noboa of Morton Grove who finished the challenge in 1:11:45. Ninety-eight people took part in the duathlon.
