Palatine Man a Top Finisher at Chicago Triathlon

Matt Baumgartner of Palatine places third in his age group (19 and under) at Chicago Triathlon this weekend.

Palatine resident, Matt Baumgartner placed third in his age group (19 and younger) at the 2012 Life Time Tri in downtown Chicago this weekend.

For international distance Baumgartner swam 1.5k, biked 40k, and ran 20k to complete the triathlon. Baumgartner powered through the events to cross the finish line, completing the triathlon in about 2 hours and 32 minutes.

A top finisher in his age group, Baumgartner was one of nearly 10,000 participants from across the country to compete in the Life Time Tri Chicago, the country’s largest triathlon Sunday, Aug. 26.

The 30th annual event brought together amateur and professional athletes alike to swim, bike and run their way to the finish line with top contenders in 11 age groups.
