Catholic Charities Stages "The Derby Whodunit" to Assist Homeless Families

The 24th Annual Hearts for Homeless Families presents:  “The Derby Whodunit,” (An Intriguing Murder Mystery), on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 5:30 PM at the Sanfilippo Estate Carousel Building, Barrington Hills. Proceeds benefit the Catholic Charities New Hope Apartments, a transitional housing program.

“The Derby Whodunit” will be performed by the TesserAct Theatre Ensemble and emceed by WGN’s Garry Meier. In the background, an 1890 European salon carousel; an 1881 Grant Locomotive; a Joseph Mayer cast iron street clock, and American and European fairground and dance hall organs add to the intrigue.  

As the bugler cries “First Call to Post” hug the rail with Derby favorites such as Fried Green Tomatoes, Mint Juleps, pecan pie, and cornbread. Ladies, trot to the finish line donning your most outlandish Derby Haberdashery for a chance to win the “Hat-i-tude Contest.” Sponsorships available. Reservations, which include valet parking, murder mystery, hors d'oeuvres, open bar, elegant dinner, and auctions are $175 per person.
