QUEST ACADEMY ALUMNA TALKS ABOUT VETERANS RETURNING TO VIETMAN

PALATINE, IL – Quest Academy Alumna, Nissa Rhee (Class of 1998) will address current middle school students on Monday, November 11, Veteran’s Day, and share her research on American Veterans returning to Vietnam.

Nissa Rhee is a writer who specializes in cultural and conflict issues. In recognition of her work, she was awarded a 2011-2013 Rotary Peace Fellowship at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. Before moving down under, she worked as a journalist in South Korea and Chicago. She received her BA from the University of Chicago and her MA from the University of Queensland. She graduated from Quest Academy in 1998.

Nissa is currently working on a nonfiction book about American veterans who have returned to Vietnam to address the continued legacies of the 1955-1975 war. The efforts of veterans have helped push the US to be accountable for the remnants of war in Vietnam, which continue to claim the lives of Vietnamese four decades on. For this project, she interviewed over a dozen veterans who work in Vietnam on issues ranging from Agent Orange to unexploded bombs to education.
