Quest Academy Destination Imagination Team Qualifies for Global Tournament
One of Quest Academy's Destination Imagination Teams Qualifies for Global Competition.
After winning honors for creativity, teamwork and problem solving in local, state and regional tournaments, Quest Academy's Destination Imagination team, Think Pink, composed of four 4th graders and one 3rd grader, has earned the right to travel to Destination Imagination's Global Finals, the largest creative thinking and problem solving competition in the world, to be held May 22-26 in Knoxville, TN. The team placed first at the state tournament in their team challenge (skit) and third in the Instant Challenge, earning the 2nd place title overall. In addition to taking second place, the team received a special DaVinci award for exceptional creativity for their scenery. This is the second DaVinci award the team has received this year. After taking first place in their regional tournament in March, they were given a DaVinci award for exceptional creativity for their costumes, which were made from recycled materials.
Think Pink will compete with other teams in the In Disguise challenge, one of seven, open-ended challenges that require young people to apply science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), in addition to improvisation, theater arts, writing, project management, communication, innovation, teamwork and community service. They will be among more than 8,000 students representing more than 1,250 teams from all over the globe. This is the second time Think Pink has advanced to the Global Finals tournament. Last year they captured the 9th place title in the world in the Coming Attractions category.
