Palatine High School Band to Perform at Nixon Library for Memorial Day

Edward Nixon, Former President Nixon's brother, will narrate a piece with the band called "To Heal a Nation."

The symphonic band at Palatine High School will be performing at the Richard Nixon Library and Birthplace in Yorba Linda, CA in honor of Memorial Day.

The band leaves for Southern California on Friday, May 25 and they will perform May 28 in the magnificent East Room of the Nixon Library.  Edward Nixon, Former President Nixon’s brother, will narrate a piece with the band called "To Heal a Nation," said Raeleen H. Horn, music department chair, in an email to Patch.

"The piece is a symphonic setting with the Gettysburg Address woven within the music," Horn said. "A very emotional number. This will be a wonderful opportunity for our student band musicians. I am very proud of our accomplishments as an instrumental ensemble. The students are sounding very professional and we look forward to our performance together."
