Palatine Gymnasts Head to State Meet

Several area gymnasts will be competing at state this weekend. 

The Fremd High School gymnastics team placed second at sectionals with a score of 146.225 and has qualified for the state meet, according to the Illinois High School Association website. 

The team finished behind Crystal Lake’s Prairie Ridge High School co-op, which had a total score of 149.525 at the Feb. 4 Fremd High School sectional.

In addition, several Fremd and Palatine High School gymnasts qualified individually for the state meet, which will be held at Palatine High School on Feb. 15 and Feb. 16.

Those who qualified as individuals include:

All-Around

• Abby Alden, Palatine High School senior. She had a qualifying score of 36.750 .

Vault

• Mary Smaga, Fremd High School senior. She had a score of 9.475.
• Christine Jensen, Fremd High School junior. She had a qualifying score of 9.475

Uneven Parallel Bars

• Emily Pinderski, Fremd High School senior. She had a qualifying score of 9.5.
• Sydney Plichta, Fremd High School sophomore. She had a qualifying score of 9.225
• Mary Smaga, Fremd High School senior. She had a qualifying score of 9.200.
• Abby Alden, Palatine High School senior. She had a qualifying score of 9.100

Balance Beam

• Sydney Plichta, Fremd High School sophomore. She had a qualifying score of 9.500
• Abby Alden, Palatine High School senior. She had a qualifying score of 9.375
• Christine Jensen, Fremd High School junior. She had a qualifying score of 9.025
• Claudia Przystal, Palatine High School sophomore, She had a qualifying score of 9.025

Floor Exercise

• Christine Radochonski, Fremd High School sophomore, She had a qualifying score of 9.550
