Fremd High School senior Renata Wetterman, who plans to pursue a career in pediatrics with a focus on global health, has been named to this year's Chicago Tribune all-state academic team.
The 18-year-old Inverness woman plays the cello and badminton, is a four-time state speech qualifier and has volunteered as a private tutor, according to the article.
Wetterman has also traveled to Haiti to help rebuild an orphanage and again with a church group to open a computer lab and teach basic computer skills, according to a Chicago Tribune article.
