Four Seats Open on District 15 School Board

The filing deadline to run for the D15 school board begins December 17 and ends December 26.

If you are interested in becoming a District 15 school board member, now is the time to organize your nominating materials if you haven’t done so already.

There are four seats that will be open in the April 9, 2013 consolidated election. Tim Millar, current school board president will not be running again. Millar is instead is running for the District 1 councilman seat currently held by Councilman Aaron Del Mar, who has chosen not to run again after one term.

The seats for board members Rich Bokor, Peggy Babcock, and David Sieffert also will be open for new candidates. Bokar and Babcock both were elected to four year terms in 2009. Sieffert was appointed by the board to fulfill the remaining term for former board member Mark Bloom, who resigned after serving two years.

Board members are elected to four year terms, and every two years, either three or four seats come open.

The filing period begins 8 a.m. on Monday, December 17 and ends on Wednesday, December 26 at 5 p.m.

“Serving as a District 15 board member is an important commitment to serve the children, families, and other taxpayers of the community,” said Jim Garwood, deputy superintendent for District 15. “Serving requires a great deal of time, commitment and willingness to work as a team.”

Candidates must be 18 years of age, a registered voter and a resident of District 15 for at least one year prior to the election date, April 9, 2013. For more information on filing, click here
