Marion Jordan School’s PTA will host a special reception for Dana Petersen on Monday, April 11, at 5:45 p.m. at Palatine Village Hall, 200 E. Wood Street, Palatine.

Following the reception, the Palatine Village Council will approve a resolution honoring Mrs. Petersen for her service to the community and the District during its meeting, which will be held at 7 p.m. in the Village Hall’s Council Chambers.

Mrs. Petersen, who has been Marion Jordan’s principal for the past 10 years, has notified the District that she will not be returning for the 2011-12 school year.

Mrs. Petersen began her career in District 15 in August 1992 when she accepted a second-grade teaching position at Kimball Hill School. She held that position for two years, and was then named building assistant at Gray M. Sanborn School in August 1994. Then, in June 2001, she was named Marion Jordan’s principal.

“Dana Petersen has positively impacted the lives of countless students over the course of her nearly 20-year career in District 15,” said Superintendent Scott Thompson. “We greatly appreciate her far-reaching contributions to the education of our community’s youth, and we want to invite all those who’ve been touched by her work to join us in celebrating it.”
