Married(Beth) 2 Children (Grace-12, Luke-10) Both in CCSD 15 Schools. Regional Sales Manager for Hudsonville Ice Cream Co. Holland MIBoard Member Palatine Youth Baseball/Softball Board Member Palatine Amateur Football Association, Trustee District 15 Educational Foundation-Chair 2008-2010 PTA Member, Exec. Board at Jane Addams 2 Years.

Why are you running for the District 15 board?

I am running for the Board again, because I really believe what we have done as a Board over the past 26 months has been very beneficial and I would like to continue to see that through. I have a strong belief in public education and especially the children that come out of CCSD 15 and would like to help all those in this district get the great education they deserve.  Still there is work to be done and would like to be a part of that work.

What is your opinion on the Early Start/Late Release issue? 

The current Board has negotiated a great contract with great help from our Teachers and this is a committee program that needs to be researched and agreed upon.  At this time there is still some information to gather and as a sitting board member I believe I should hold off my opinion until we get all that information.

What is your opinion on the possible outsourcing of bus services in District 15?

There is alot of information that needs to be gathered on this issue and again this is a negotiation that will be handled between the Board and Drivers Union and I will hold off commenting until we get all the information to make an informed decision.

What, if any, improvements would you like to see in the way the board is run?

I believe the biggest improvement that needs to be adhered to is that all Board Members get the necessary training to sit on the board.  All members have to know what the role of each of us is.  We hire the Superintendent to run the district and The School Board is the overseer of that, we have to be completely informed of how things are running, but need to know what we can do and what we cannot do.  Training for all is imperative. 

Additional comments and/or information you deem important for District 15 voters to know about you.

Again, I have served on this board for 2+ years, and this Board has worked well together, we have differing opinions and thoughts, but have listened to each other and have made the best decisions for CCSD 15.  We have negotiated 2 great contracts, instituted a great STEM Program, have been transparent with stakeholders, have a stable administration, I am excited about what is in the future for CCSD 15 and want to continue to serve and help us get to a great spot.  I would be honored to serve on the CCSD 15 School Board.
