D15 Parents Will be Able to Track School Buses Through New GPS Technology

The school district is also considering whether to require students to scan ID cards every time they board or get off their bus, according to the Daily Herald.

One Palatine school district will soon install GPS technology to its school busses that is meant to ensure better safety for its students and will allow parents to track the buses in real-time, according to local media reports. 

Palatine Township Elementary District 15 has approved a $208,656 contract with Synovia Solutions to outfit its school busses with GPS technology, which will allow school officials to monitor bus drivers for railroad crossing violations, speeding and other infractions, according to the Daily Herald.  

The technology will also allow parents to log on to a "parent portal" online where they will be able to track their children's buses while on the road, according to the article.
