Water Main Break Shuts Down Eastbound Palatine Road at Rand Road

Motorists are advised to avoid the area near Palatine and Rand roads as public works trucks handle the aftermath of a water main break. Traffic is backed up and being diverted around the area.

A water main break that occurred at the southeast corner of Palatine and Rand roads early this morning has caused a snarl in traffic at the intersection.

Until around 9 a.m., motorists should expect delays, said Jeff Musinski, utility superintendent for the Village of Arlington Heights.

Musinski said because a utility pole was located in the east parkway area where the water main break occurred, due to safety concerns, it had to be taken down.
