Village: 'Hard to Find an Ash Tree Without Emerald Ash Borer in Palatine'
The village of Palatine continues its battle against the invasive and destructive beetle, removing just under 1,000 ash trees in 2013.
The following information comes from a village of Palatine April 4 e-mail newsletter.
The Village of Palatine’s Forestry Division faced the Emerald Ash Borer head on in 2013.
The forestry division first discovered the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB), a tree-killing green beetle native to Asia, in 2009 and reports it is now in all areas of the Village. The EAB infestation accelerated its destruction of the ash trees in the last year. Village and contracted crews removed just under 1,000 ash trees in 2013.
