Speedy Citgo On Palatine Road Comes Down

The old Speedy Citgo gas station building at Plum Grove Road and Palatine Road has been demolished.

The site at 5 W. Palatine Rd., for about $1.2 million. A portion of the purchase price, $450,000, was placed in an escrow account and will be used to deal with any environmental or clean up costs associated with the property.

Palatine officials have not made any decision about the property's long-term future. Federal grant money was used to pay for part of the acquisition cost because it was a consequence of the Palatine Road construction project.
