Palatine To Consider Housing Plan For Michigan Avenue

The Palatine Village Council is expected to consider plans for a housing development in the 200 block of W. Michigan Avenue.

The Palatine Village Council is expected to consider plans for 14 new homes in the 200 block of W. Michigan Avenue Monday.

The 4.66 acre property currently includes one, vacant residential building. If the new plans are approved the building would be demolished. "No variations are sought," stated a village report on the project. "All of the lots would conform to the design requirements of the Subdivision Regulations."

As part of the project, the developer would build a new public street that would connect to Michigan Avenue. The village report states that all of the homes would be orientated toward the new street.

"The Village is aware of storm water management concerns in the surrounding neighborhood that date to the development of that subdivision," the staff report states. "The proposed development will not impact any of the properties upstream of this development and will contain and convey storm water, as required."

The development also would include a new detention area at the southeast corner of the property.

The Palatine Village Council meets Monday, June 4 at 7 p.m. at Village Hall, 200 E. Wood St.

Palatine's Plan Commission recommended approval of the project by a 4-3 vote.
