The Palatine Public Library District will host a poetry contest from March 15 through April 15 in honor of National Poetry month.

"Last year we had over 60 poems submitted," state librarian Megan Buttera in a press release. "And we hope to have even more this year."

Participants of all ages can submit original poems for a chance to win the Nancy Heggem Poetry Award. Palatine resident Nancy Heggem, a published author, will donate a personal cash prize and, with two other judges, choose the best poem from each age category, a press release from the library states.
