Palatine Approves Durty Nellie's Expansion

The owners of Durty Nellie's received approval from the Village Council to expand their business.

The Palatine Village Council has approved an expansion of Durty Nellie's, 180, N. Smith St.

Deputy Village Manager Mike Jacobs said the original concept in 2002 included another business – such as a bakery or restaurant – in the Durty Nellie's building. However, the space has remained vacant.

Jacobs said Nellie's ownership decided to make use of the space themselves.

"They wanted to take the next step," Jacobs said. "This would be a quieter, bar area that would be separated from the rest of Nellie's."

The plans approved by the council Monday will create an area that could be rented out as a banquet space, or utilized as additional bar and restaurant space.

"The initial plans are that if no private events are being held within the new area then the restaurant and bar seating areas would be open on Fridays, Saturdays, and special occasions," the plans presented to the Village Council state.

Jacobs said he believed that the new area will have a capacity of 70 to 90 people.
