No Vote on Abolishing Palatine Township Road District

A group of residents had hoped they would be able to vote Tuesday on abolishing the township's road district.

Dozens of residents hoping to vote on a study that would look at abolishing Palatine Township's road district did not get that chance during Tuesday's annual town meeting, according to the Daily Herald.

They did get to address the board and said they would continue to push for abolishing the road district, according to the article.

Highway Commissioner John Powers said the road district was financially sound and the township spent about $84,000 per mile per year on its roads, which is 20 percent below the budgets of most other communities, according to the Daily Herald.
