Mixed Martial Arts Event Proposed For Palatine

The Palatine Village Council Monday will consider a proposal for an amateur mixed martial arts event at the Hat Trick Hockey facility, 647 S. Consumers Ave.

The Palatine Village Council Monday will consider a proposal for an amateur mixed martial arts event at the building, 647 S. Consumers Ave.

The event would be put on by MGS Fight Productions and the Salt Creek Rural Park District. The proposal states that the event would include amateur mixed martial arts fights and demonstrations.

If approved by the Village Council, the event would be Saturday, March 10 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. "All fights and demonstrations would occur within a cage in the center of the rink," the proposal states.

The Palatine Village staff have recommended approval of the event. "The Palatine police and fire departments are satisfied with the security and safety plans and the maximum occupancy counts," village staff states in a report. "Staff believes there is adequate parking provided and both the petitioner and valet are familiar with parking restrictions in the area."

The organizers of the event plan on using the old bowling alley parking lot at 519 S. Consumers Ave. to accommodate parking needs.

Alcohol would be served at the event – Salt Creek has a liquor license and would provide food and concessions.

The Palatine Village Council meets at 7 p.m. at Village Hall, 200 E. Wood St.
