Mac’s on Slade Coming to Downtown Palatine in February 2012

Bar and restaurant will take over former Mint Julep Room location and offer live entertainment, a full bar and food menu after village council approved liquor license and special use permit for live bands.

After reconfiguring their business plan to meet village requirements, Mac’s on Slade, 117 W. Slade Street will be coming to downtown Palatine in February of 2012.

“It will be more of a music-theme on the inside, we are looking to attract more of a mature crowd – business professionals, parents with children who need a night out, music buffs and others that enjoy a casual setting with good music,” said Mike Barra, who owns the business with Mac Reitz.

The bar and restaurant will have 48 dining seats and 10 seats at the bar, and serve lunch and dinner.  Its menu will be casual, and include appetizers, salads, sandwiches, full entrees and desserts.

“We’ve heard from a lot of people, and they are looking forward to a having a place to get a casual meal and hear some good music; and so are we,” Barra said.

Minor changes are planned for the inside, such as moving a door to provide better line of vision of bands performing, putting a new top on the bar and adding cabinets, in addition to expanding the kitchen.

Barra said the building permit process is already in place, and their goal is to open the business before Spring.
