Illinois Tollway To Hold Hearing Aug. 23

Residents can provide feedback on Illinois Tollway's plan to raise toll rates to fund improvements.

Residents will have another chance to share their opinions on Illinois Tollway's .

A public hearing will be held from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23 at the Buffalo Grove Village Hall, 50 Raupp Blvd.

According to an Illinois Tollway press release, nearly 800 people attended public hearings held Aug. 18 in Cook, Kane, Will and DuPage Counties. Of those who submitted oral or written comments, more than 87 percent supported the plan, according to Illinois Tollway.

“Over the past year and a half, the Tollway has worked to engage business owners, community leaders, elected officials, environmental groups and other stakeholders to learn about which transportation projects are important to the growth of the Midwest region,” said Illinois Tollway Executive Director Kristi Lafleur.

“The plan we’ve presented reflects their insights, and now, we want to hear from our customers and other members of the communities we serve through these public hearings,” she said.

  • Reconstructing and widening Interstate 90 from Interstate 294 to Rockford.
  • Reconstructing more than 20 miles of the central Tri-State Tollway (I-294) and the Edens Spur (I-94)
  • Preserving the Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88)
  • Preserving the Veterans Memorial Tollway (I-355)
  • Repairing roads, bridges and maintenance facilities
  • Other capital projects, including local interchanges
