Cook County Needs Election Judges In Palatine

The Cook County clerk is looking to hire judges for the April 5 election.

The April 5 election is fast approaching and Cook County Clerk David Orr is looking to hire election judges to work Palatine precincts.

"This is an opportunity to serve your community, help democracy and earn a bit of money," Orr stated in a press release.

There are about 2,100 candidates on the ballot for local offices including mayors, school board members and park district commissioners.

In each election more than 10,000 election judges make sure that polling places in suburban Cook County operation smoothly and that elections are carried out fairly. The judges supervise conduct inside polling places and assist voters.

A press release from the clerk's office states that judges can earn up to $170 every election. This includes working Election Day, successfully completing training and assisting with polling place set-up.
