BGA Report: Cook Townships Gobble Cash

Townships governments in Cook County have outlived their usefulness, according to an analysis by the Better Government Association.

According to a Nov. 7 report released by the Better Government Association, the 20 largest suburban townships in Cook County "are hoarding millions of dollars in property taxes, overpaying to fix and maintain a smattering of roads and bankrolling a number of costly, often redundant, jobs and social services not mandated by any law."
