UPDATED: Woman Killed After Pick-Up Truck Goes Off Overpass in Palatine

Snowy and icy roads were a factor in a deadly one-vehicle crash in Palatine Monday night.

An Elgin woman is dead after the pick-up truck she was driving on southbound Route 53 in Palatine went off an overpass shortly after 9 p.m. Monday. The truck fell 20 feet, landing upside down on Route 14, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The Arlington Cardinal has a video of the crash site investigation, which was also posted on YouTube.

Julie Allard, 34, was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:12 p.m., reported CBS Chicago.

Illinois State Police told the Chicago Tribune weather was a factor in the deadly crash. Allard's pick-up truck slid on the icy road then went over a cement retaining wall for the bridge. Allard was crushed and had to be extricated, according to the article.

When Allard's truck fell it clipped a car that was headed westbound on Northwest Highway, causing minor damage and no injury to the driver, reported the Daily Herald.

The crash remains under investigation.
