Thanksgiving Traffic Enforcement Nets 2 DUI Arrests, 62 Seat Belt Violations

The Palatine Police Department participated in a Thanksgiving traffic campaign Nov. 18-Dec. 1 focusing on the enforcement of seat belt use and impaired drivers.

The Palatine Police Department's Thanksgiving "Click It or Ticket" and "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign, conducted Nov. 18-Dec. 1, resulted in several arrests and dozens of tickets.

  • Seatbelt violations: 62 tickets issued
  • DUI: 2 arrests
  • Speeding: 17 tickets issued
  • No Insurance: 10 tickets issued
  • Child safety restraint violations: 2 tickets issued
  • Suspended driver’s license: 1 arrest
  • All other traffic violations: 11 tickets

The Palatine Police Department received a traffic safety grant from by IDOT to conduct its holiday campaign. The funds increased the number of uniformed police officers on the roadways enforcing traffic laws over the Thanksgiving holiday.  

Palatine Police set up six safety belt enforcement zones throughout the village to identify drivers and passengers not properly wearing seat belts.
