Teen Arrested in Father-Son Shooting in Palatine

Marco Lopez, 17, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and wil be tried as an adult, according to media reports.

A 17-year-old boy is expected in bond court this morning after being arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of a Palatine father and his son this past week, according to the Daily Herald.

Marco Lopez, 17, wil be tried as an adult, according to the article.

The arrest comes following a shooting early Wednesday in Palatine. Segundo Reynoso, 38, and his son, Luis Reynoso, 15, were found lying on the floor with gunshot wounds just after midnight Wednesday in an apartment at the Baldwin Green Apartments in the 1900 block of Green Lane North in Palatine.

Luis died of multiple gunshot wounds to the face while his father was killed by a single gunshot wound to the face, according to the Daily Herald. Police said there was no signs of struggle, and neighbors report hearing between three to seven gunshots, according to the article.

The younger Reyonso had known gang ties, according to media reports.

Police said they are familiar with Reynoso but could not say if they knew of a motive in the shooting, according to a Thursday report by NBC Chicago. Police and neighbors said there is a strong gang presence in the neighborhood surrounding Baldwin Green Apartments, according to the article.

Patch will update with more details once they become available.

Oh, and the police are there 'cause people are calling 911.. Haha, what a lovely neighbourhood

Awww poor baby, John. I do walk my dog at all times of the day and contrary to being a pushover, I'm just not a Chicken Little screaming about the sky falling and rambling on about things some on here apparently know little about. I actually talk to our local police instead of only whining about them on an Internet post and I know and can confirm that they are not there just for 911 calls. Now you can hike up your big boy britches and want to go threaten some 6 year-olds about a couple of eggs and maybe you want to move out of the neighborhood because of that but then that's your right if that makes you feel more comfortable.

Maybe we ought all to show up at the next Palatine council meeting? I think our presence would be a good idea no?

Craig, I'm a poor baby cause I don't like my house getting graffitied? Cause I don't like gd pitchforks sprayed on my sidewalk? Cause I don't like to see kids playing with guns right out on Gardenia? Cause I don't like seeing gang bangers shoot at each other in the baldwin green parking lot? Cause I don't like listening to pounding bass day-in and day-out? Cause I don't like people getting murdered across the street? - Not that you would know, but I do call my local police.. plenty. Gent bent.
