Schaumburg Woman Sentenced for DUI Crash, Injuring East Dundee Cyclist

A 34-year-old Schaumburg woman has been sentenced to three years in prison for driving drunk and hitting a cyclist in East Dundee last May, causing the 32-year-old victim to suffer severe head and neck injuries, according to the Daily Herald. 

Erika M. Morset, of the 1500 block of Revere Circle in Schaumburg, entered guilty pleas last week to leaving the scene of a crash and aggravated driving under the influence causing bodily harm, the Daily Herald reports.

In addition to the prison time, she was also sentenced to pay nearly $11,000 in restitution and to serve four years probation, according to the article. 

The accident happened on May 17 around 5:20 a.m. when Morset rear-ended the cyclist on South Street near Maiden Lane in East Dundee before leaving the scene of the crash, according to the Daily Herald.
