Report: Bomb Threat at Palatine High School Was Bogus

A comment on the Palatine High School website as video of the graduation was streaming live on Sunday, June 2, stated there was a bomb in the building at 1111 N. Rohlwing Road, according to Commander Kurt Schroeder with the Palatine Police Department.

Schroeder said a the emergency call came in just before 3 p.m. alerting police to the threat.

Schroeder said police were already stationed at the school, where the graduation ceremony - which had started at 2 p.m. - was still underway.

Additional police, along with fire officials arrived and the building was searched. Schroeder said nothing suspicious was found.

"We were very fortunate that the threat was not real, and that there was no disruption to the graduation ceremony," said Tom Peterson, director of community relations for District 211.
