Police Investigate Brawl, Stabbing of Fremd Student

Inverness police say that dozens of Fremd students gathered to watch a fight Thursday.

Inverness police are investigating the stabbing of an 18-year-old Fremd High School student that occurred during a brawl.

The incident happened the evening of Thursday, May 26, at South Park near the intersection of Clover Drive and Thompson Way, east of Ela Road. Inverness Police Chief Bob Haas said two Fremd students had planned to fight at the park and several dozen other students arrived at the park to watch the fight.

Haas said that because of the size of the crowd, Palatine and Hoffman Estates police were called to assist.

"It's still under investigation," Haas said. "Basically a bunch of kids gathered to watch two kids fight. From there another fight broke out."

Haas said in the second altercation a 16-year-old stabbed an 18-year-old with a pocket knife. The names of those involved in the incident are being withheld because they are both juveniles and because no criminal charges have been filed.
