An 86-year-old Arlington Heights woman received several suspicious calls from a man who identified himself as a police department detective hired by a public clearing house to locate winners. He asked her to go to Wal-Mart and send $500 to process her winnings. She refused but he continued to call, now asking for $300. While officers were talking to the woman, the subject called again. He refused to answer the officer's questions. The calls eventually stopped.

Motor sailed

A Lake Forest man reported the new outboard motor recently installed on his sailboat was stolen from off of his boat while parked at the boat storage area.

Officer was suspicious when they asked how to get to the nearest stuffed crust pizza

Two Wisconsin men were charged with unlawful possession of cannabis and unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver after police said an officer smelled marijuana coming from inside their vehicle. The men had flagged down the officer to ask for directions.
