Parents Charged With Manslaughter in Barrington Baby's Starvation

The parents of 7-month-old Mya G. Edwards, who was reported dead in a Barrington apartment in January, have been charge with felony child endangerment and involuntary manslaughter and are expected to appear in bond court Saturday, according to the Daily Herald.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office determined Markisha Jones, 19, and Gene Edwards, 22, who were most recently living in Bolingbrook, caused Mya's death through malnutrition from starvation, according to the article.

The Daily Herald reports Mya's twin sister, Mia, was also neglected and as of March, was under the care of a foster home though her parents did have supervision rights at that time.
