Palatine Teen Admits To Using Car To Destroy Mailboxes

The Daily Herald is reporting that one of three teenagers charged with smashing mailboxes has pleaded guilty.

One of the three teenagers who allegedly used a 2005 PT Cruiser to destroy at least seven mailboxes in Palatine has pleaded guilty to vandalism charges according to the Daily Herald.

Robert A. Wagner, 18, of Palatine was sentenced to 24 month's probation and ordered to pay restitution and perform commmunity service after pleading guilty to damaging property, the Daily Herald reported.

Wagner, Josua J. Rupe, 18, of Palatine and Alyssa M. Kessel, 18 of Elmhurst all were charged in the . Prosecutors say the three took a PT Cruiser from a home in the 200 block of Harrison Street after getting permission to take the vehicle from the daughter of the owner.

Police said that Rupe, Wagner and Kessel used the doors of the PT Cruiser to hit mailboxes as they drove along Palatine Streets. The mailboxes were located in the 700 block of Revere Lane, 900 block of Elm Street and 900 block of Carriageway Lane.

The damage to the car was estimated to be about $8,693.

Charges against Rupe and Kessel still are pending.
