Palatine Police To Step Up Patrols For Thanksgiving

The Palatine Police Department will use grant funding form the Illinois Department of Transportation to increase patrols this Thanksgiving.

The Palatine Police Department will use grant funding from the Illinois Department of Transportation to increase patrols during the Thanksgiving holiday.

A press release from the Palatine Police Department states that most serious traffic incidents occur between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. because of impaired drivers, speeding and failure of people to use seat belts.

"With grant funding provided through IDOT, the Palatine Police Department will institute uniformed saturation patrols dedicated to identifying and arresting impaired drivers, as well as strictly enforcing speeding and safety restraint violations," the press release states.

The department also plans to set up "Safety Belt Enforcement Zones" throughout Palatine to enforce the use of seat belts.
