Palatine Police Release Memorial Day Enforcement Arrest, Citation Numbers

The number of arrests and citations issued by Palatine Police during the Memorial Day enforcement campaign have been released.

Palatine Police Department partnered with the Illinois Department of Transportation in their annual Memorial Day Holiday Traffic Safety Crackdown.

Through a traffic safety grant, IDOT supplied funds to increase the number of uniformed Palatine Police officers on the roadways enforcing traffic laws over the Memorial Day holiday.

The focus of this campaign was to make sure vehicle occupants are kept safe through the enforcement of seat belt use, removing intoxicated motorists off the roads and reducing speeding.

Through the holiday, Palatine Police uniformed officers hit the streets on dedicated traffic enforcement saturation patrols and Seat Belt Enforcement Zones (SBEZ) throughout the Village.

These saturation patrols and SBEZ’s emphasized the hours of 11:00 pm to 3:00 am, which have proven to be the deadliest on Illinois roadways.

The following is a summary of the results for this campaign funded by IDOT:
Seatbelt Violations – 53 tickets
Speeding – 10 tickets
Driving Under the Influence – 2 arrests
No Insurance – 1 ticket
Open Alcohol in a Vehicle – 1 ticket
Texting While Driving – 3 tickets
All Other Registration/Moving/Equipment Violations – 9 tickets
