Palatine Police Issue More Than 100 Tickets During Labor Day Campaign

The Palatine Police Department issued more than 100 tickets and made 8 DUI arrests during a Labor Day Holiday Traffic Safety Campaign. The information was provided by the Palatine Police Department.

The Palatine Police Department issued more than 100 tickets and made 8 DUI arrests while participating in the Illinois Department of Transportation's Labor Day Holiday Traffic Safety Campaign.

Palatine receives funding from the state as part of the program to increase the number of officers on roadways during the campaign. The campaign included the week prior and week of Labor Day.

A press release from the department states that the goal of the campaign is to get intoxicated motorists off of roads, reduce speeding and make sure people are wearing seat belts and using child safety restraints.

As part of the program, the department conducted a roadside safety check at Algonquin and Roselle Roads. The following is a summary of the results of the campaign:

  • Driving Under the Influence – 8 arrests
  • Zero Tolerance (drinking and driving under age 21) – 1
  • Seat belt Violations – 49 tickets
  • Child Safety Restraint Violations – 3 tickets
  • Speeding – 17 tickets
  • Suspended/Revoked/No Valid Drivers License – 6 arrests
  • No Insurance – 9 tickets
  • Open Alcohol in Vehicle – 3 tickets
  • Drug Offenses – 3 arrests
  • Felony Charges – 2
  • Curfew – 2 arrests
  • Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor – 1 arrest
  • All Other Registration/Moving/Equipment Violations – 31 tickets
