Palatine Police Issue 160 Tickets During Thanksgiving Patrols
The Palatine Police Department issued 160 tickets and made four DUI arrests during increased patrols for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
The Palatine Police Department issued 160 tickets and made four DUI arrests during stepped up patrols for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
The department used a traffic safety grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation to boost the number of officers on roadways during the Thanksgiving holiday, a press release from the department states.
"The focus of this campaign was to get intoxicated motorists off the roads and make sure vehicle occupants are kept safe through the strict enforcement of seat belt and child restraint use," the press release stated.

The department used saturation patrols at night during the week of Thanksgiving. The department also set up Safety Belt Enforcement Zones. The following is a summary of the results of the Thanksgiving Holiday Traffic Safety Campaign:
- Driving Under the Influence – 4 arrests
- Zero Tolerance - 1
- Seatbelt Violations – 85 tickets
- Child Safety Restraint Violations – 1 ticket
- Speeding – 13 tickets
- Suspended/Revoked/No Valid Drivers License – 5 arrests
- No Insurance – 8 tickets
- Drugs – 1 arrest
- Warrants – 2 arrests
- All Other Violations – 53 tickets
