Palatine Police Issue 132 Tickets, Make 8 DUI Arrests During St. Pat's Holiday Campaign

The Palatine Police department participated in the St. Patrick's Day Holiday Traffic Safety Campaign.

The Palatine Police Department issued 132 tickets and made eight DUI arrests as part of the St. Patrick's Day Holiday Traffic Safety Campaign.

Palatine increased patrols from March 11 through March 20 prior to St. Patrick's Day and had a road side safety check point near Algonquin and Roselle Roads. The department's efforts were paid for in part by a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation.

A press release from the department states that the goal of the campaign was to get intoxicated drivers off the road, reduce speeding and to make sure that people were using their seat belts. Below is a summary of the results of the campaign:

  • Driving Under the Influence – 8 arrests  
  • Zero Tolerance (drinking and driving under age 21) – 1
  • Reckless Driving – 1 arrest
  • Seat belt Violations – 51 tickets
  • Child Safety Restraint Violations – 2 tickets
  • Speeding – 19 tickets
  • Suspended/Revoked/No Valid Drivers License – 4 arrests
  • No Insurance – 16 tickets 
  • Open Alcohol in Vehicle – 1 ticket
  • Drug Offenses – 1 arrest
  • Felony Charges – 1
  • All Other Registration/Moving/Equipment Violations – 42 tickets
