Palatine Police: Holiday Enforcement Campaign June 28-July 7

Palatine Police will step up patrols to stop driving under the influence and other violations on the roadways during the July 4 holiday period.

A release from the Palatine Police Department:

The Palatine Police Department is dedicated to keeping our roadways safe through aggressive traffic enforcement measures.  With grant funding provided by the Illinois Department of Transportation, we are participating in the 4th of July Holiday Traffic Safety Crackdown.

June 28th through July 7th, we will be saturating the roadways with officers focusing on impaired drivers, occupant protection, and speeding.  These are found to be the greatest contributing factors in serious injury and fatal motor vehicle crashes throughout Illinois.

Palatine Police officers will be hitting the streets looking for those individuals who drive impaired, drive recklessly, and/or fail to wear safety belts.

In addition to saturation patrols, the Palatine Police Department will be conducting a Roadside Safety Check on Friday night June 28th. The Roadside Safety Check will take place on Algonquin Road near the intersection of Roselle Road, starting in the late evening and going through the early morning hours.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the midnight to 3:00 am timeframe is the deadliest on Illinois roads.  This timeframe also has the lowest occupant restraint use involving motor vehicle fatalities.

Should you witness erratic or impaired driving, please call 9-1-1.  Lets all do our part to make Illinois roadways the safest ever this 4th of July Holiday!
