Palatine Police Holiday Campaign Nets 6 Arrests, 60 Tickets

Palatine Police increased its holiday traffic enforcement with help from a grant supplied by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).

The Palatine Police Department's holiday traffic enforcement campaign, which took place Dec. 20 through Jan. 5, resulted in six arrests and 60 tickets, according to a press release:

DUI: 2 arrests

Possession of marijuana: 2 arrests

Suspended driver's license: 2 arrests

Seatbelt violations: 26 tickets issued

Speeding: 8 tickets issued

No insurance: 7 tickets issued

Transportation of open alcohol: 2 tickets issued

Other traffic violations: 17 tickets issued

The Palatine Police Department partnered with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) for the holiday campaign. Through a traffic safety grant, IDOT supplied funds to increase the number of uniformed Palatine Police officers on the roadways enforcing traffic laws during the Christmas and New Year's holiday, including a roadside safety check.
