Palatine Police Blotter: Smoking Car Burglar, $5K in Tools Swiped

The latest Palatine Police Blotter:

Theft

Two solar lights were taken from the side driveway in the 2300 block of N. Westwood Ln. sometime between June 18 at 10 p.m. and June 19 at 8:47 a.m. The lights are valued at $6. 
A woman's purse was taken from an unlocked locker at World Gym, 1546 E. Dundee Rd. on June 15 between 7:10 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. The purse contained $300 in cash, a driver's license and two debit cards. 
An unattended debit card was taken from a bench in the clubhouse pool area in the 1200 block of E. Wyndham Ct. on June 23 between 2:45 p.m. and 5 p.m. The card was used to make purchases at several locations after it was stolen. 
The SIM card of an Apple iPhone was reportedly taken from a locked locker at the Family Aquatic Center, 340 E. Palatine Rd. on June 23 between 2:45 p.m. and 5 p.m. The victim told police when a call on the phone was attempted, the SIM card ($600) was discovered missing. No damage was reported to the phone itself.

Residential Burglary

An unknown offender pried open a basement window of a home in the 900 block of W. Andover Ct. sometime between June 16 and June 23 and stole several tools including a Bosch Jackhammer ($3,500), a Makita Miter saw ($1,000), Makita 5-piece tool set ($600) and a Rigid 5-piece tool set ($500). 

Burglary to Motor Vehicle

Unknown subjects entered an unlocked black 2001 Nissan SUV and removed a U.S. passport, a white Apple iPhone ($400), and three packs of Marlboro cigarettes ($30) in the 100 block of E. Palatine Rd. sometime between June 20 at 7:30 p.m. and June 21 at 6 a.m. No damage was reported to the victim's vehicle. 

Unknown subjects entered an unlocked black 2012 Honda parked in a residential driveway in the 1800 block of N. Iris Dr. sometime between June 21 at 10 p.m. and June 22 at 5:30 p.m. and took a Garmin Nuvi GPS unit (unknown value) and $10 in change. 

Criminal Damage to Vehicle

Residents who live in the 500 block of N. Brockway St. heard noises outside of their home on June 22 at 12:03 a.m. and witnessed two male subjects. One was smashing the windshield of the owner's 2007 Chevy SUV parked in the driveway with an unknown object. The subjects then fled the area. 

A rock was thrown through the rear window of the victim's 2011 Honda minivan in the 300 block of W. Hamilton Pl. sometime between June 21 at 11:30 p.m. and June 22 at 8:08 p.m.
