Palatine Police Blotter: Shopping Cart Thrown at Window, Gas Tank Filled with Water

Criminal Damage to Property

An unknown offender(s) threw a shopping cart through a window at Palatine Family Chiropractic, 216 W. Northwest Hwy. sometime between Feb. 1 at 11 p.m. and Feb. 4 at 3:30 a.m. Damage estimates were not immediately available.

Criminal Damage to Vehicle

An unknown offender(s) filled 1/4 of a 2011 Chevy sedan's gasoline tank with water as it was parked in the 1100 block of Foxglove Ln. on Jan. 26 between 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Criminal Damage to Vehicle and Theft

An unknown offender(s) removed the passenger side headlight from a 2007 Chevy sedan parked in the 1100 block of Prairie Brook Dr. sometime between Feb. 3 at 8 p.m. and Feb. 4 at 5 a.m. The driver's door window also was smashed, but nothing appeared to be taken from inside the vehicle. 

Burglary to Motor Vehicle

An unknown offender(s) smashed the front passenger door window of a 2005 Chevy Van in the St. Theresa School parking lot, 445 N. Benton, on Jan. 31 sometime between 5:50 p.m. and 7:36 p.m. A zebra striped purse also was taken, which contained multiple credit cards and gift cards and a drivers license. The loss is estimated at $225. 

Retail Theft

An investigation on Jan. 30 at 10:25 p.m. at Walmart, 1555 N. Rand Rd. resulting in the following arrests:

Kelly K. Geschrey, 18, of the 0-100 block of N. Rohwling Rd. was charged with taking $66.81 in miscellaneous stolen goods.

Jennifer T. Stanton, 18, of the 1100 block of N. Topanga Dr. was charged with taking $39.65 in miscellaneous stolen goods.

Driving Under the Influence

Scott R. Haugan, 51, of the 1200 block of Wyndham, was charged with DUI after travelling northbound on N. Frontage Rd. at Silver Ln. on Feb. 2 at 1:20 a.m. Haugan also was charged with driving too fast for conditions, having a blood alcohol content of more than .08
