Palatine Police Blotter: Sept. 30 through Oct. 3

The following information was taken from Palatine police reports:

Sept. 30

An apartment was burglarized in the 700 block of E. Rand Grove Lane. Entry was gained to the residence through a window. Various jewelry items were taken.

A 1998 Honda sedan was burglarized in the 1200 block of N. Prairie Brook Drive sometime between 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. A CD player was taken from the vehicles dashboard. The car was unlocked at the time of the theft.

Oct. 1

A single-family home was burglarized in the 1300 block of E. Baronet Lane sometime between 9 a.m. and 2:03 p.m. The front door of the home was forced open. Police said believe something was used to pry the door open. There also were indications that an attempt was made to enter the home through a window. Taken from the residence was an estimated $6,600 in jewelry, a laptop computer valued at $600, two digital cameras valued at $900, a video camera valued at $800 and various camera accessories valued at $270.

The front window door of Great American Bagel, 805 N. Quentin Road was smashed sometime between Oct. 1 and 5 a.m. Oct. 2. Taken from the store was about $150 in cash.

Oct. 2

A burglary to motor vehicle occurred sometime between 9 p.m. Oct. 2 and 5:30 a.m. Oct. 3 in the 1200 block of N. Winslowe Drive. A wallet valued at $50 was taken from a 2008 Nissan Sentra.

Oct. 3

A burglary to motor vehicle occurred sometime between 1 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. Oct. 3 in the 1500 block of N. Winslowe Drive. A 2002 Buick Rendezous had its front windshield smashed with a small piece of steel. An Apple iPod valued at $200 and $200 in cash was taken.

Steven W. Vrabec, 19, of the 1300 block of N. Baldwin Court, was charged under local ordinance with possession of marijuana. Police said they found about 19 grams of marijuana during a traffic stop.  Vrabec was stopped for allegedly running a red light. The incident occurred at 7 p.m. in the 2000 block of N. Rand Road.
