Palatine Police Blotter: Residential Burglary, Wallets and Bikes Stolen

Theft

A wallet was taken from a table at McDonald's, 1576 N. Rand Rd., on May 19 between 9:15 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. The victim told police their wallet was on the table while in the restaurant, and when preparing to leave, realized the black leather wallet ($25), containing $400 and miscellaneous identification and credit cards were missing.

A wallet was taken from Walmart, 1555 N. Rand Rd. on May 15 between 10:15 a.m. and 10:25 a.m. After purchasing items from the store, the owner of the green velvet wallet ($15) noticed it was missing when loading their vehicle. After looking in the store, the owner was unable to locate it. Taken was the wallet and $20, a social security card, miscellaneous bank cards, $200 in gift cards, identification and five, Six Flags Great America season passes ($400). 

Unknown offender(s) took two bicycles from a locked apartment storage locker in the 1400 block of N. Winslowe Dr. sometime between May 15 at 10 p.m. and May 19 at 2:16 p.m. The owner reported the locker door was secured at the upper portion, which allowed the lower portion of the door to partially be pulled open. A gold Iron Horse mountain bike and an unknown make/model, men's mountian bike were taken. Values on the bicycles were not immediately available.

Unknown offender(s) removed a green Trek 700 Sports Searcher men's bicycle ($316.87) from a residential garage in the 1500 block of N. St. Mark's Pl. on May 17 at 5:37 p.m. The victim told police that family had been staying in the home from March 29 until May 14 while the family was out of town, and that the garage may have accidentally been left open. Police found no signs of forced entry. 

Residential Burglary

Unknown offender(s) entered a home in the 1100 block of W. Illinois Ave. on May 14 between 6:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. The home was unoccupied and unlocked at the time, and the victim reported $20 in change, four assorted watches (unknown value) and several other pieces of jewelry (unknown value) were taken. 

Driving Under the Influence

Sarah Mages, 65, of the 1200 block of E. Baldwin Ln. was arrested on May 14 at 5 p.m. in the parking lot of Wine & Liquors, 1244 E. Dundee Rd. and charged with DUI.
