Palatine Police Blotter: Rash of Car Burglaries

The following information was taken from Palatine Police reports.

May 11

Lucyna P. Iwanicki, 54, of Downers Grove was charged with retail theft following an incident at . Police said Iwanicki opened a package and placed two USB drives in her pocket and left without paying for the items.

Brian G. O'Shea, 20, of Palatine was charged with local ordinance possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop at 12:15 a.m. in the 100 block of S. Northwest Highway.

Johnathan Bethyo, 22, of Buffalo Grove, was charged with local ordinance possession of cannabis following a a traffic stop at 11:59 p.m. in the 1400 block of E. Dundee Road.

May 18

A black 2008 Lexus SUV was burglarized in the 800 block of N. Coolidge Avenue sometime between 10 p.m. May 18 and 4 p.m. May 19. A Louis Vuitton purse valued at $1,200 was taken. The vehicle was unlocked at the time.

May 18

A cream colored 2005 Lincoln Aviator was burglarized in the 2000 block of N. Rand Road sometime between 8 p.m. May 18 and 4 p.m. May 23. An in-dash navigation system valued at $1,500 was taken.

May 21

Anastasija Chamkina, 26, of Palatine, was charged with local ordinance possession of cannabis following a traffic stop near the intersection of Northwest Highway and Deer Run Drive.

May 21

Three car burglaries occurred in the 700 block of N. Maple Street between 11:30 p.m. May 21 and 8:20 a.m. May 22. A 2002 black Ford Excursion had a Sprint Cell phone valued at $400 taken. A 1999 Toyota Solara had $35 in cash taken from it. A third vehicle was entered but nothing was taken. All three vehicles were unlocked.

May 21

A silver Hyundai Santa Fe was burglarized sometime between 8 p.m. May 21 and 9 a.m. May 22 in the 1200 block of N. Knollwood Drive. Taken from the vehicle was a Garmin GPS unit valued at $250, a cell phone charger valued at $50, several CDs, and several toys valued at $50. The vehicle was unlocked at the time.

May 21

A 2001 silver Nissan Altima was burglarized in the 1200 block of N. Knollwood Drive sometime between 6 p.m. May 21 and 9:30 a.m. May 22. Taken was a Garmin GPS unit valued at $100. The vehicle was unlocked.

May 21

A blue 1998 Plymouth Mercury was burglarized sometime between May 21 at 11:30 p.m. and May 22 at 12:45 p.m. The vehicle was unlocked at the time. Taken was a pair of prescription glasses valued at $100, a CD holder with 80 CDs valued at $800, a cell phone charger valued at $15 and $5 in change.

May 21

A black 2007 Mercury was burglarized in the 1300 block of N. Knollwood Drive sometime between 11 p.m. May 21 and 7 a.m. May 22. A Passport radar detector valued at $300 and a Bluetooth headset valued at $100 was taken.

May 22

A grey 2007 Dodge Ram pickup truck was burglarized in the 300 block of S. Creekside Drive May 22 between 6:30 p.m. and 10:38 p.m. The trucks driver's side window was smashed. A wallet containing some cash, personal ID and financial cards was taken. Also taken was a Garmin GPS unit, an Edge Juice Tuner valued at $1,000, and two iPods.

May 22

Michael A. Bombick, 22, of Arlington Heights, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop at 2:30 p.m. in the 600 block of W. Palatine Road.
